Nurturing Self-esteem

The difference between someone who is functioning well and a person who floundering through life is frequently their self-esteem.

Self-esteem is the attitude we have toward ourselves, how we feel about ourselves, our overall judgment of ourselves, how much we like the particular person we are.

High self-esteem is not arrogance. It is a quiet sense of self-respect, a feeling of self-worth. When we have it, deep within, we are glad we are who we are. Arrogance is simply whitewash over low self-esteem.

In this 8-session class we explore these 3 areas.

The language we use and what we chose to say are the building blocks of nurturing self-esteem in all of our family members. We explore how to keep our language in the descriptive arena and out of the judgement arena all while we are vigilant to “catch” others doing positive things and affirming them.

Exploring Similarities & Differences

In our families we may have similar temperaments and personalities or we may not. To nurture someone’s self-esteem we must first understand what makes them tick! We use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to explore how to adapt our language so that our loved ones are not only loved, they truly feel loved and cherished.
