Mutual Respect: The Power of Words

We all have good days and bad days.

We all say things we later regret.

Learning how to express ourselves in a constructive manner, even when we are exhausted, is a powerful tool to have in our toolbox.

When we embrace the idea that mutual respect is actually a process, we begin to gradually refine our responses to honor all those involved.

Course Content

Session 1
Introducing the Mutual Respect Process

It’s a Process!

Mutual Respect is actually not a noun; it is a process. We introduce the 5 parts of the process: listening fully, pursuing understanding, setting boundaries/limits, encouraging reflection, affirming.

Session 2
Listening Fully without Judgement

Suspending Judgement

We often have opportunities to learn about speaking but we rarely take the time to learn about listening…listening fully. In order to truly understand someone, we must first listen fully.

Session 3
Setting Boundaries and Encouraging Reflection

Thinking Differently

While all feelings are acceptable, all behavior is certainly NOT acceptable. We introduce how to set boundaries/limits while at the same time encouraging reflection to stimulate different thinking.

Session 4
Encouraging Future Success with Affirmation

Being Vigilant

Sometimes we are so focused on critiquing and correcting we actually forget to affirm the things we like. We look at how you can make a habit of actively seeking things to affirm and thus encourage mutual respect.
