Creating Memories in a Busy World
Family rituals, traditions and celebrations build powerful interpersonal connections and foster a collective sense of identity.
Whether they are passed down from one generation to another or a new creation, they help us have a feeling of belonging and can provide a sense of security in our ever-changing and always busy world.
They are not only fun but at their core, they are based around the values you want to promote in your family. Whether it’s connecting with each other, serving others and volunteering, being adventurous, appreciating nature and the cultural arts, or being physically healthy and active, family traditions and rituals can be at the heart of creating experiences to support these values.
“In a world that is less and less predictable, in a society that is less and less dependable, we need to do all we can to make our families safe harbors in the storm – places where warm and predictable things happen, places where our children can develop identities of their own, places and things they can return to (if only in their memories) no matter how far they roam.” — Linda Eyre
