Being in Tandem as a Couple

Definition of couple

1a: two persons married, engaged, or otherwise romantically paired

We help couples fine-tune how to live together. The result…truly cherishing each other. And that leads to living together respectfully, peacefully and lovingly.

In today’s world there are many things that pull couples apart.

We look at what can bring you closer together and keep you together.

Class discussion is on the content being learned only, not your private discussions.

We ask that you, as a couple, set aside 30-60 minutes of uninterrupted, distraction-free time each week so that you can have the private conversations necessary to apply what you are learning in class.

All couples: married, engaged, dating, gay, lesbian or straight, who are in a committed relationship are welcome.

Course Content

Pre-Work: Taking the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Session 1
Receiving Your Results

Understanding Your Preferences

We start by exploring the basics of our personalities using your results from the Type Indicator. You will also look at 4 definitions of “oneness” and discern what suits you best.

Session 2
Looking at How You Interact with the World

Similarities and Differences

We all have different preferences for how much we enjoy talking and listening as well as how much we enjoy spontaneity or scheduling things. We look at how flocks of birds stay together to help you, as couples, deal with these differences.

Session 3
Exploring How You Make Decisions

How Do Your brains Work Together?

How can we think like that? How can we act like that? We look at how our brains work differently and the impact this has on your relationship. We also look at how our communication is impacted when we are “in our brain stem” and not using rational thought.

Session 4
Putting it All Together

Looking Into Your Future

We look at how all of our preferences work together and the uniqueness that each couple experiences when the two are brought together. The key to long-lasting relationships is creating a habit of “Touchstone Time” or a time to assess and strengthen it. We end by looking at how to make that happen.
